Jackson’s Forest

48” x 60” Oil on Canvas

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

In Huntington Woods, there are the upper trails and there are “off trails” that veer down to the creeks and less-traveled paths. Jackson’s Forest captures one of the more remote paths - coming up a hill off the creek – a spot where our Cane Corso, Jackson, and I came upon a white owl, perched on a fallen tree. This magnificent creature waited until we were almost in arm’s reach before lifting its incredible wings and elevating into the sky. The somewhat steep climb up this trail rewards with an almost surprising link to established paths - through a forest laced with steep hillsides - overlooking a creek that feeds the big lake.

These trees are built from multiple layers of paint to capture their texture and dimension.
